At Jordan Marine Construction, we’re proud to look back on our successful collaboration with the community at Autumn Lake of Pearland. Located in Pearland, Texas, this serene lakeside neighborhood offers residents dynamic amenities—from a stocked lake and fishing piers to trails, pools, and playgrounds.

Project Background

Autumn Lake of Pearland is a mature community of around 400-plus homes, featuring expansive green space, a large lake originally used as a bird-sanctuary (“The Sand Pit”), and recreational amenities such as walking trails, play areas, and two fishing piers.

With aging infrastructure and rising expectations for safety and aesthetics, the homeowners association embarked on a multi-year capital improvement strategy. A significant phase of pier and shoreline improvements, including major contributions from Jordan Marine, was completed between November 2018 and December 2019.

Our Role & Scope

Jordan Marine Construction was engaged during this period to provide marine-contracting services addressing erosion, piers, pier guides, and stabilization. Key contributions included:

  • Relocating and refurbishing the long fishing pier, moving it into shallower water to mitigate structural risk.
  • Installing deep-foundation guide poles (telephone poles driven into lakebed) to stabilize the pier systems.
  • Adding safety railings, signage, and docking finger piers for residents’ kayaks and small boats; enhancing lighting and overall durability.
  • Addressing waterfront erosion and integrating marine-grade structural supports to the lakeside edge.

Challenges & Solutions

Erosion & Deep Water: The lake drops to around 50 feet near the pool side, making traditional shallow water pier systems impractical. By shifting the pier into shallower water and utilizing driven piles, we provided a long-term stable solution.

Safety & Code Compliance: The HOA required fishing piers built to code with safety railings, lighting, signage, docking capacity. Our design and build incorporated all these features to meet the community’s expectation.

Community Aesthetic: Because Autumn Lake values scenic beauty and resident experience—jogging trail around lake, lighting, sunsets—we worked to ensure our structures blended with the natural surroundings while delivering durability.

Outcome & Impact

The results speak for themselves:

  • A fully relocated and upgraded long pier with finger docks, lighting, gates and rails — offering one of the longest freshwater fishing piers in the area.
  • Stabilized lakeside edge helping protect adjacent residences from further erosion.
  • Enhanced resident experience: safer night‐walking trails (thanks to added lighting), upgraded recreational infrastructure, and improved community appeal.

The HOA noted: “Chris at Jordan Marine did most of the work you see at the park … he is a marine contractor with great ideas and knowledge. Those telephone poles used for stabilizer/ guides are pounded down 20 ft beneath the lake floor.”

Why This Matters

For a community like Autumn Lake—which emphasizes both tranquil nature and active living (fishing, kayaking, jogging)—having safe, well-engineered lakefront infrastructure is key. The work completed in 2018-2019, supported by Jordan Marine Construction, was instrumental in upholding the HOA’s vision of beautiful, functional outdoor amenities that residents enjoy to this day.

A Lasting Impact

We’re proud to see how our work has stood the test of time, continuing to support the Autumn Lake of Pearland community with ongoing maintenance and enhancements. The project remains a strong example of our commitment to quality and partnership.

If your HOA or waterfront community is facing similar challenges—piers in deep water, lakeside erosion, recreational amenity upgrades—Jordan Marine Construction is ready to partner and bring practical, beautiful solutions.
