Why Correct Lift Sizing and Alignment Matter More Than the Brand

Most boat lift problems we're called to fix are not equipment failures — they are installation failures. A lift sized to the boat's dry weight instead of its wet, fully loaded weight (fuel, gear, wakeboard ballast) runs at or over capacity every cycle. How much does boat lift installation cost?

Cost depends on lift capacity, type (cradle, vertical, or rotating PWC lift), whether the dock structure needs reinforcement, and the electrical run. What size lift do I need for my boat?

Size to the fully loaded wet weight — hull, engine, full fuel, water, gear, and any ballast — plus a safety margin, not the brochure dry weight. Wakeboard boats with ballast systems are the most commonly under-sized. We confirm real weights during the assessment.

Can you put a lift on my existing dock?

Usually yes, after we verify the framing and pilings can carry the concentrated loads a lift introduces. If the structure needs reinforcement we price that honestly up front. Bolting a lift to under-built framing is how docks get pulled apart.

How do lifts handle changing lake levels?

We set lift travel around the lake's real seasonal swing — Conroe and Livingston levels move with rain and releases — so the boat clears the water at the top of travel even in high water, and launches cleanly in low water. It's a siting detail that matters as much as capacity.

Do boat lifts need maintenance?
